For nearly four decades, my life has been shaped by art, photography, and education. What began as a personal haven has grown into a lifelong vocation, one grounded in creativity, curiosity, and a deep belief in the potential of others.

I have spent 38 years as a senior art and photography teacher, working with generations of young people and advocating for the transformative power of visual language. Alongside my teaching, I have authored four art and photography textbooks that have been used widely in Australian schools, supporting both teachers and students in developing technical skill, visual literacy, and confidence in their creative voice.

Teaching has never been simply about outcomes or accolades, but about encouragement, about noticing potential, fostering resilience, and helping students see themselves as capable of meaningful expression. This philosophy has shaped my classrooms, my writing, and my professional collaborations, and it continues to guide my practice today.

While education has been central to my career, I have always remained an artist at heart. After many years devoted to teaching and mentoring, I am now enjoying the return to my own studio practice. It is a reminder that creative lives evolve, circle back, and deepen with time.
